Charles Overton is a Boston-based harpist and composer whose work moves between classical music, jazz, and improvisation as a creative practice. Grounded in his classical training and equally shaped by the openness and individuality of jazz, he has developed a voice that moves fluidly between traditions while honoring the unique character of each.

Overton performs regularly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, and his chamber music work has included appearances with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Winsor Music, and the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia, as well as festivals such as Spoleto Festival USA, Moab Music Festival, Yellow Barn, and Marlboro. In jazz and creative music settings, he has collaborated with artists including ganavya and Shabaka Hutchings, and has performed at festivals such as Big Ears, Newport Jazz, Winter Jazzfest, North Sea Jazz, and Montreux.

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Charles began studying harp with the American Youth Harp Ensemble before continuing at Interlochen Arts Academy and Berklee College of Music, where he also participated in the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. He currently serves on the faculty of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and is a core member of projects such as Oko and Wild Tapestry.

Across his performing, teaching, and composing, Charles is guided by a belief in music as a space for connection, reflection, and healing. His upcoming release, Reflections, offers a more personal expression of that vision and reflects the warmth, curiosity, and expressive range that define his work.
